RMC Srl is a company founded in 1995 by a young and dynamic team and has quickly become an important and reliable point of reference in the whole panorama of earth-moving machinery.
Gabriele, tell us how the company was born and how it came to today’s success.
In reality, the company has been in existence since 1986.
It started as a small company dedicated solely to the sale of Cat parts (RMC stands for Caterpillar Machine Parts), where I worked as its sole employee. On 1 January 1995, I was asked to withdraw it. Today, after 25 years, we are almost 24 people. The secret was in surrounding myself with exceptional people, who are also my collaborators.
Your company has a strong international vocation. The RMC stands are in fact, always present in major fairs around the world. How important is the foreign market for your company?
It is always very important, but compared to a 10/15% increase in global turnover every year, we have seen foreign sales increase from 50% to 70% in 2018. This is due to the constant growth of the Italian market, which bodes well for our economy.
At this year’s Bauma you had a beautiful stand. How did the 2019 edition of this great European fair go?
We have been participating since 1998, and that of 2019 was by far the most successful edition I remember.
We have seen on your company’s website that you have made a WhatsApp service available to your customers, a service also available directly on the MachineryScanner website. This immediacy in responding to your customers; how important is it today?
I would say it is our pride, as well as one of the reasons for our success. Today, more than ever, those who make dynamism and speed one of their strengths can succeed.
In addition to the relationship with your customers, tell us about how the way of working within your company has changed, in the era of the Internet on your smartphone?
If I look back, I realize how much the world has changed in 10 years. It seemed like just yesterday we working with paper catalogs and microfisches, while today we have employees working in the office at a distance of 500 km, we are able to provide remote assistance with wireless access, we build spare parts with 3D printers and deliver them to every corner of the world in less than 60 minutes from the arrival of the order.
RMC Srl is always in step with the times, if not a step forward. What is new for the future?
By the end of 2019, we will double the covered area, creating a new workshop and doubling the warehouse space. As of now, we prepare about 50-60 expeditions every day, and it was an absolutely necessary intervention.
We are also in the pipeline with e-commerce, a project we have been working on for three years. The work is huge due to the amount of spare parts of different brands we are able to manage.
